ZTE has released its debut Android Wear smartwatch – the ZTE Quartz. The budget smartwatch is dust and water resistant (IP67 rating), runs Android Wear 2.0 and relies on a lasting 500mAh battery which promises up to 2 days of standby on single charge.
At only $192 (£154), the ZTE Quartz is one of the cheapest Android 2.0 Wear devices around. It features a 1.4-inch circular AMOLED display with 400 x 400 pixels, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, interchangeable 22mm straps, 768MB LPDDR3 RAM, 4GB built-in storage space and built-in GPS.
The timepiece skips NFC and Heart Rate Sensor but powered by the widely used Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 (MSM8909W) processor and built-in speaker as well as microphone for calling (T-Mobile 3G networks). As expected, it is compatible with recent Android and iOS smartphones, and pre-installed with Google Assistant.
The ZTE Quartz will be available online via T-Mobile from April 14 and in select T-Mobile stores starting April 21. Blue is the only available colour option.
