Yesterday, news broke online that Swiss luxury watch maker, TAG Heuer is working on a Luxury smartwatch which would run Android OS. And today at the Baselworld 2015 conference in Switzerland; the company has officially announced it has teamed up with Google and Intel to make a luxury Android Wear smartwatch.
The Tag Heuer Luxury smartwatch would definitely run Android Wear OS and the partnership also see the company team up with Intel to make the hardware of the new smartwatch. The timepiece would be made and assembled in Switzerland.
The company didn’t reveal any information on pricing and specifications; but the company is holding onto any information about the device till it nears launch date. However the first watch from the partnership would be available towards the end of the year.
At the event, the President of the Watch Division LVMH Group, Jean-Claude Biver said;
Swiss watchmaking and Silicon Valley is a marriage of technological innovation with watchmaking credibility. Our collaboration provides a rich host of synergies, forming a win-win partnership, and the potential for our three companies is enormous.
General Manager of TAG Heuer, Guy Sémon added:
The quality of Swiss watches is renowned worldwide. When this is allied with the creative technology and global power of two companies like Intel and Google, using the Android Wear platform and based on Intel technology, we can see the launch of a technological revolution in our industry, of which I am proud to be a pioneer today with TAG Heuer.
