The ‘Android One’ line focuses on affordable smartphones designed, developed and supported by Google in partnership with participating OEM or manufacturer. Smartphones from this line run the latest Stock Android OS and receives software and security updates directly from Google.
The first set of Android One smartphones were launched in India (September 2014) by Karbonn, Micromax and Spice while the second set were launched in Indonesia the following year (February 2015) by Mito Impact , Evercoss One X and Nexian journey.
The Infinix Hot 2 X510 (1GB and 2GB RAM versions) is the first Android One smartphone to launch in Nigeria and Africa. The device went on to be available in various African countries as well as some in the Middle East.
