TCL Corporation, the firm behind both the Alcatel and TCL brands has announced two new smartphones in China – the flagship TCL 950 and mid-range TCL 580. Both devices will arrive in Gold and Silver colours, however, information on pricing and availability is a bit sketchy.
TCL 950
Believed to be the Blackberry DTEK60 (Argon), the 6.99mm thick TCL 950 is equipped with the Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (MSM8996) flagship processor, rear-placed fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers and a 3000mAh battery (non-removable) with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display with 2.5D Curved glass (both front and rear) and uses the USB Type-C port. In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 21MP camera with Sony IMX230 sensor and f/2.2 aperture, alongside a front facing 8MP camera for selfies and video chats.
The TCL 950 packs 4GB RAM, Dual Nano SIM slots (Hybrid), 64GB built-in storage space, NFC, 4G LTE connectivity (Cat.6 and LTE-A), Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 and Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
TCL 580
Also running Marshmallow, the TCL 580 sports a 5-inch HD AMOLED display and depends on a 2460mAh battery. It is powered by a 64-bit Octa-Core Mediatek MT6750 processor paired along with 3GB of RAM, 32GB built-in storage and Hybrid Dual Nano SIM slots.
In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 13MP camera and a front facing 5MP camera for selfies. The rest of the specs includes – Fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 4.2 and 4G VoLTE.
