A smartphone with 2GB of RAM, 64-Bit CPU and 13MP rear camera costs just $95 (RMB 599, around N20,000)? Yes, TCL, the Chinese company behind the Alcatel brand of smartphones has released the TCL Ono.
The Ono is one of those very very affordable smartphones you wish was available internationally but it could end up being available through third-party resellers at a costlier price (plus shipping and add-ons). The selling point of the device is not its design really but the capable specs it come with.
The TCL Ono (P620M) sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display, powered by a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6935 processor with Mali T720 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 128GB).
The front facing selfie camera is a 5MP unit and the rear camera is a 13MP snapper with LED flash. The rear camera is a PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) Unit just like the iPhone 6 and both cameras come with CMOS image censor. Connectivity options on the device includes – Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, micro USB, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi Hotspot and 4G LTE.
The TCL Ono supports Dual SIM slots and TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA and GSM network frequencies. It also comes with MaxxAudio which should enhance the audio listening experience. It measures 141 X 71 X 8.8mm in dimensions and weighs 130 grams.
Finally, you get a solid device running on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, comes pre-installed with Lewa Launcher and is backed by a 2650mAh battery. The TCL Ono (or TCL P620M) is currently available in China and would be available in Grey, Indigo, White and Yellow colour options.
