TCL has announced the TCL Play 2 and TCL Play 2C mid-range smartphones in China. Both device pack titanium alloy frames; support for 4G LTE networks; IR Sensor for use as remote control for appliances at home and a fingerprint sensor on the back which unlocks the device in 0.5 second.
TCL Play 2
Starting with the TCL Play 2 which has some edges over the Play 2C; it sports a 5-inch On-Cell IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD), measures 143.2 x 72.2 x 8.5 mm in dimensions, weighs 145 grams, runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and is backed by a 2500mAh battery.
Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 MSM8952 processor clocked at 1.5GHz with Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB built-in storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. Connectivity options includes – GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 4G LTE.
For photography, there is a front facing 5MP camera with 85-degree wide angle lens and a rear facing 13MP main camera with 5P lens, F/2.0 aperture and LED flash; the main camera shoots 1080p videos. The TCL Play 2 will be available in China by late December for a price tag of CNY 899 (US$ 140) in Champagne Gold, Cherry Pink and White colour options.
TCL Play 2C
The TCL Play 2C has most of the specs of the TCL Play 2 but it is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU, measures 140.98 x 71.05 x 8.58 mm; in dimensions, weighs 145 grams and is backed by a smaller 2000mAh battery.
The device is a selfie-focused phone with a front facing 8MP camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, 4P lens and 86-degrees wide angle lens for selfies. The rear facing main camera is a 13MP camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens and 77-degrees wide angle lens.
The TCL Play 4C will go on sale on December 18th but pre-order begin 8 days earlier on December 10th for CNY 699 (US$ 109) in Champagne Gold and White Colour options.
