Introducing Metro By T-Mobile
Starting October 1st 2018, MetroPCS will become Metro By T-Mobile and users will be able to choose from two new unlimited prepaid plans featuring Amazon Prime and Google One. The new plans are $50 and $60 per month respectively, and include both taxes and fees.
The two new plans are unlimited (with the usual caveats) and offer 5GB and 15GB LTE respectively for hotspot data. Only the $60 plan includes Amazon Prime membership which guarantees access to free two-day delivery (one-day in some areas), streaming music and video, and other benefits.
Also, Metro by T-Mobile customers will get a wide variety of Android and iOS smartphones for every price point, including the absolute latest releases.
Google Search Turns 20
Yesterday (27/09/2018), Google – known for its popular search engine and other products turned 20. To celebrate its 2nd decade of existence, Google released a video doddle highlighting popular searches over the years, street view tour of Susan Wojcicki’s Menlo Park garage in which everything started, a time capsule of Easter egg Search terms and resigned Google Images desktop.
Made By Google 2018 – Pixel 3 & Pixel 3 XL Launch Event
Google will unveil the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL at its annual ‘Made by Google’ event coming up on October 9 at simultaneous events in London, New York, Paris and possibly other cities. The launch event could also see the announcement of other hardwares products such as the Google Home Hub, 2nd-gen Pixel Buds, a new tablet, possibly the second-generation Pixelbook, and more.
The Pixel 3 XL has a notched 6.2-inch display with QHD+ resolution and dual 8MP front cameras with different lenses while the Pixel 3 has a notch-free 5.5-inch display with FHD+ resolution and also a dual front camera setup. Both models will be based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform and come pre-loaded with Android 9.0 Pie.
Michael Kors Acquires Versace
Following its 2017 acquisition of luxury shoemaker Jimmy Choo in a deal worth $1.2 billion, Michael Kors Holdings Limited has struck a deal to acquire Italian Fashion House, Versace SpA in a multi-billion dollar deal. The sum reported to be around US$ 2.12 Billion, will see the global fashion luxury group change its trading name to Capri Holdings Ltd once the deal closes.
Michael Kors hopes to grow Versace’s global revenue to US$ 2 Billion while expanding its retail outlets by 100 (from 200 to 300) across US, European and Asian markets whilst also increasing e-commerce and omni-channel presence.
Once the deal closes, John D Idol will remain Chairman and CEO of Capri Holdings as well as the CEO of the Michael Kors brand while Donatelle Versace will remain on as a creative director. Jonathan Akeroyd, the current Versace CEO will also remain in the position after the deal.
Instagram CO-Founders To Leave The Company
Instagram Co-founders; Kevin Systrom (CEO) and Mike Krieger (CTO) have announced plans to leave the company in coming weeks. The duo didn’t give and concrete reason for leaving but cited ‘leaving Instagram to explore curiosity and creativity again’.
The Facebook-owned photo sharing platform currently has over 1 Billion active users and Stories has over 400 millions active users.
