Smartphones from Tecno’s Camon series have always been about camera performance. So it was no surprise when the company announced the launch of the Camon CX (aka Camon C10), last week in Kenya. The phablet-sized device, which launched alongside its lite model – the Camon CX Air, is the sequel to last year’s Camon C9 which has rear and front 13MP cameras and an iris scanner.
As expected, the Camon CX arrives with a number of improvements over the Camon C9 while also retaining some of its predecessor’s features. In light of this, we are pitching both devices side by side based on the specifications to see what remains and what has changed.

Verdict:
in conclusion, the Camon CX unsurprisingly trounces the Camon C9 with a longer lasting battery plus fast charging, support for more LTE bands, faster processor and boots Android Nougat OS with HiOS UI ontop. It also opts for fingerprint scanner instead of the not-so popular iris Scanner on the C9.
The highlight of the Tecno Camon CX is the front and rear facing 16MP cameras which is marketed as being better than the 13MP cameras (front and rear) on the Tecno Camon C9. Asides all this, much of the specs remain the same.
In conclusion, the Camon CX obviously attracts more spotlight and it is a no-brainer for first time buyers and those who can afford it, however, Tecno Camon C9 is an still a cheaper and more reasonable option for those who can’t afford the CX (the Camon CX Air could be that option too).
