Tecno Mobiles has a new entry-level device in the market – the Tecno Y2. Unravelled of recent, the 4-inch has been released quietly in select markets across the continent and is expected to increase the company’s penetration in the African market.
Backed by a 2800mAh battery with Ultra power saving mode, the Tecno Y2 sports a 4-inch display with (480 x 800 pixels) WVGA screen resolution and is powered by a dual-core Cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with 512MB of RAM and 8GB built-in storage space.
It has Dual SIM slots, supports 2G and 3G networks, a front facing camera, rear facing 2-megapixels camera, microSD card slot for storage expansion and boots the already dated Android 4.4 Kitkat OS out-of-the-box.
Although not selling in Nigeria yet, the Tecno Y2 is available in some other African countries like Uganda where it is selling for between Ugx 200,000 to Ugx 220,000 at the Tecno Store as well as UTL Store and Banana Phone world. It is also selling in Ghana from the official Tecno Store for a price tag of 180 Cedis (US$ 47 or about NGN9500).
In a related news, Tecno is expected to announce the Tecno Boom J8 in coming weeks. The successor to the Boom J7 which has leaked online along with the image, has seen some improvements in some departments such as the display size, battery, memory and camera.
