US chip maker, Qualcomm has announced a new technology that lets all-metal rocking mobile devices charge wirelessly called the Qualcomm WiPower. Qualcomm’s new technology is based on the new-ish wireless charging standard – Rezence rather than established standard names likes Qi or PMA.
According to Qualcomm, it has cracked the code which now lets metal body build mobile devices – Smartphones and tablets charge wirelessly without any issue. The solution is being tipped as the first ever declared to support wireless charging for charging metal devices.
Rezence lets devices charge wirelessly without having any physical contact and multiple devices can be charged at the same time. The Qualcomm WiPower technology on the other hand is very friendly towards metal objects as its lets metal device charge faster or at speeds equal to non-metal devices which are being charged by other wireless standards.
The Rezence standard is actively developed by the Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP) which has leading companies like Qualcomm, Intel, Samsung, Asus, LG, Lenovo and Motorola on its side .
