The Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet is designed to withstand harsh Environments

Dell has announced the Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet, the slate is touted as the company’s first fully rugged tablet deigned for performance and reliability in harsh conditions. It is slated to launch at the end of July on Dell.com for a price tag which is yet to be announced (it won’t be cheap though); pricing starts at $1600.

In terms of ruggedness, the Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet is confirmed to work well under very extreme temperatures ranging from -20-degrees F (low) and 145-degrees F (high). Talking about withstanding harsh conditions, the slate copes well even when dropped from a height of around 4 feet (1.2m) and also resistant to mud, dust, sand and liquid spills.

Moving to the tech specs, the tablet sports a 11.6-inch (1366 x 768 pixel) display which can be operated when wearing gloves and the display can be used outdoors including under sunlight. It is powered by the Fifth Gen Intel Core M processors and has 512GB Solid state drive storage (128GB and 256GB options available).

Connectivity options includes – Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and GPS as well as an optional cellular connectivity option. It runs Windows 8.1 OS and is backed by two 2-cell batteries which are expected to provide around 12 hours of battery life. The Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet comes with accessories such as a durable pogo-pin docking interface and optional full-size keyboard cover.
