Tizen OS based Samsung Z1 now available in Bangladesh

Samsung finally took the wraps off its low-end smartphone running the Tizen OS last month in India where it went on sale. The company has announced the device is already available in Bangladesh from February 3rd. The pricing was not announced along but it would be very affordable; it is expected around 7162 Bangladeshi Takas (BDT).

The Samsung Z1 features a 4-inch WVGA display, powered by a  1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processor with 768MB RAM and 4GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD slot which allows storage up to 64GB more space. If offers a 3.15MP camera, supports Dual SIM, FM Radio and 3G support. 

It is backed by a 1500mAh battery which is said to provide about 8 hours of talktime and 7 hours of video streaming. It also comes with Ultra Power saving mode feature. It runs on Tizen OS 2.3 with TouchWiz UI ontop and there is a Tizen appstore. 

Samsung also sweetened the deal with a host of freebies; access to over two million songs and music videos on Hungama with free three month subscription; free music and live TV service from Club Samsung for a year and three month access to movie streaming with Club Samsung Subscription.

The Samsung Z1 enjoyed relative success in India and it is targeted at first time buyers and developing markets. The company emphasised that since only 30% of the 900 million cellphone users in the country use a smartphone; with the Tizen OS based Z1 they can ease their transition. 

Users in Bangladesh can get the device in their country; more developing markets could be getting the device also soon.

09/02/15 – Update: The Samsung Z1 is available in Bangladesh for 6900 BDT which around $90. That’s the official pricing.
