Samsung has always been in the news for one form of update or the other and of the most convincing reason the company has showed its Galaxy line of device would be around for a long time. Samsung this year announced its flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone and over coming months we got to see different variants of the device pop up on several occasions.
The company’s flagship line of device for the year has already been released with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge. There have been more news of more metal body samsung smartphones with the Galaxy Alphaleading the way for other other Galaxy A series. All these smartphones would gain the same traction the Samsung Galaxy S6 would get from the press and consumers alike.

Rumours about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 has been making rounds so we decided to gather up different short details about the purported specs details and more.
Dimensions
The Samsung Galaxy S5 measures 142mm tall, 72.5 wide and 8.1mm thin and weighs 145 grams. The Samsung Galaxy S6 is saidnot to be far off from this dimensions but with the S6 said to have a metal chassis, the weight could be lighter too.
Display
Samsung would not be crossing into the phablet category with the Galaxy S6 but this doesn’t mean the device would not have a 5-inch plus display. The Samsung Galaxy S5 was tipped to have a Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution display but the device had to settle for a Full HD display with the former set to be reserved for another model.
It is looking likely that the Samsung Galaxy S6 would feature a 5.3-inch or 5.5-inch AMOLED display and the device is set to have bendable display exactly like the Youm concept which debuted at the CES 2013 or the extended display which debuted with the Galaxy Note Edge.
There are also speculations that the Galaxy S6 would feature a UHD (3840 x 2160) AMOLED display. So we expect a UHD or Quad-HD display with the upcoming Galaxy Flagship from Samsung.
Processor
Apple made the jump last year to 64-bit computing with its A8 chipset on the iPhone 5s. And we have even started seeing Android smarphones make the switch to 64-bit chipset. It is safe to say the Samsung Galaxy S6 would feature a 64-bit Soc.
Meanwhile Qualcomm has announced two new chipsets – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 and snapdragon 810 processors which are both 64-bit. Enabled and would be available in smartphones by the first half of 2015 (that’s no coincidence). Samsung is also said to be working on a 64-bit enabled Exynos processor.
Samsung is known to make one device in two chipset variants – mostly with Qualcomm chipset and Samsung Exynos chipset. The Samsung Galaxy S6 is said to feature the more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC and a 64-bit Exynos 800 processor is also expected on the device.
HINT – The octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset is based on four Cortex A57 cores (up to 2 GHz) and four A53 cores with 64-bit support, an Adreno 430 GPU and integrated 4G LTE Advanced modem.
Memory
Memory-wise the Samsung Galaxy S6 would offer nothing spectacular in terms of the RAM and internal storage. Due to the 64-bit computing, Samsung is expected to squeeze 4GB of RAM inside the device or the device could still end up with 3GB of RAM under the hood as expected. Concerning storage expect an internal storage of 16GB/32GB variant or 32GB/64GB variant and a microSD card slot for expansion up to 128GB.
Camera
The Samsung Galaxy S5 featured a 16MP Autofocus rear camera. With an array of features and a front facing 2.1MP camera. The Galaxy S6 is said to come with an improved 16MP camera or would go entirely different with a 20.7MP higher quality camera. The device is also expected to come with around 7MP or 8MP front camera.
Operating System (OS)
Every Galaxy S device debuted with TouchWiz UI on top of whatever Android OS was used. Google has announced the Android L and the Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to run on this OS with different proprietary features expected from the company too.
There are heavy suggestions that Samsung would make improvement on the S Health app, more camera features and also extend its fingerprint sensor functionality with more upgraded features just like Apple did with the iOS 8 which debuted with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Connectivity
Courtesy of an advanced chipset with the Snapdragon 810 SoC, the Galaxy S6 would feature LTE-A connectivity and Bluetooth 4.1. Other expected connectivity features are microUSB 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, HSPA, LTE, NFC and IR blaster.
With the Samsung Galaxy S6 set to retain the Download Booster feature (the Download Booster combines LTE and Wi-Fi to speed up download); the device is said to come with more connectivity related surprises.
Release Date
Many sources expected the Samsung Galaxy S6 to debut this year but it has been seen, Samsung would likely put distance between the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S6.
The best possible date available for the Galaxy S6 to make its debut is either at the CES 2015 in January or the MWC 2014 in March with April 2015 touted to be the official availability in the market.
Pricing
Samsung has always priced its flagship smartphones lesser than Apple’s iPhones and this is not expected to change with the Galaxy S6. The prices are expected to stay around $650 in the US which was the same with the Galaxy S4 and S5. The price could be higher but it is not expected to add more than $50. US carriers offered the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 for $199 on a two years contract, and this won’t be changing also.
Editors Final Note
This is almost all we have heard and seen about the upcoming Galaxy itinerary from Samsung Galaxy S series. In all the Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to come with improved specs, higher quality camera and run on Android 5.0 or Android L (Lollipop).
