Toshiba announced the Encore Mini Tablet, Chromebook 2, Satellite Radius 11, and Satellite CL10-B.
Toshiba Encore Mini
The 7-inch display sized affordable Windows OS tablet, the Toshiba Encore Mini (WT7-C16) has been announced by the company. The device has been priced at $120 (N19,000 – N20000 in Naira) and is available from Toshiba’s online store and retail outlets.
The Toshiba Encore Mini features a 7-inch WSVGA (1024×600 pixels) LED backlit multi-touch display, powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3735G processor (1.33GHz base clock, up to 1.86GHz), 1GB of RAM powers the tablet, 16GB of inbuilt storage and microSD card for expansion (up to 128GB). There is a front facing VGA camera and a 2MP rear camera onboard.
Connectivity options on thee device includes – Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The Toshiba Encore Mini runs Windows 8.1 with Bing and is powered by a non-removable 13Wh Li-Po battery which provides up to 7.3 hours of usage.
The Toshiba Encore Mini is compatible with the Toshiba Wireless Keyboard that is optimised for Windows, and Toshiba’s Touchscreen Pen. The slate would be available in Black and White colour options.
Toshiba Chromebook 2
The company announced the Chromebook 2, the apparent successor to the Toshiba Chromebook with a lighter and slimmer design but with the same plastic design.
The Toshiba Chromebook 2 features a 13-inch (1080×1920 pixels) Full HD IPS display and powered by a Dual-core Intel Celeron N2840 Processor clocked at 2.16GHz with 2GB or 4GB of RAM, 16GB of inbuilt storage and a microSD card slot for expansion.
The Chromebook 2 runs on Chrome OS and has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 port, HDMI output as connectivity options. The device would also come with 100GB of free Google Drive storage, skullcandy audio and the battery provides 9 hours of usage time. The Chromebook 2 is available in two variant – a $329 priced Full HD display version with 4GB of RAM and a $249 trimmed specs version with 1,366 x 768 pixels resolution and 2GB of RAM. The chromebook 2 would be available in the UK by the first quarter of 2015.
Toshiba Satellite Radius 11 and Satellite CL10-B
Also announced were the Toshiba Satellite Radius 11, and Satellite CL10-B.
The Satellite Radius 11 is the company’s first 11.6-inch laptop-tablet convertible. The device has a hinge that allows the laptop fold into an oversized tablet.
The Toshiba Satellite Radius 11 features a 11.6-inch (1,366 x 768 pixels) resolution display with 10 finger touch support, powered by an Intel Celeron or Pentium processor, 4GB of RAM and come with a 500GB
hard disk space. Connectivity options includes – HDMI output, USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 port and an SD card reader.
The Toshiba Satellite Radius 11 measures 289 x 199 x 19.9mm, weighs just 1.1kgs. The device run Windows 8.1 and be available in satin gold colour.
Moving on to the Toshiba Satellite CL10-B, the device also share some specs with the Satellite Radius 11 with its connectivity options, they both measure and weigh the same and are both available in Satin Gold colour but unlike the former it is not convertible.
Other specs includes – Intel Celeron processor with Intel Burst Technology 2.0 coupled with 2GB of DDR3L (1600MHz) RAM, runs on Windows 8.1 with Bing, the laptop includes 32GB of inbuilt storage and also offer 100GB of OneDrive cloud storage for users.
The price of both devices were not stated but they would be available during the fourth quarter of the year with no prices stated yet.
