Toshiba in conjunction with Microsoft, Intel, Goodix, AMi has unveiled a new 7-Inch tablet which runs Windows 8.1 OS – the Toshiba Encore 7. This affordable windows tablet was unveiled at the ongoing Computex 2014 event by Microsoft’s corporate Vice President, Nick Parker.
Going into details, the Toshiba Encore 7 is the first ever 7-inch display-sized tablet running Windows 8.1 OS around. It sports a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels (HD) on a 7-inch display and is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3735 processor clocked at 1.33GHz (up to 1.8GHz in burst mode) with 1GB of RAM.
Storage capacity on the device is a 16GB inbuilt storage and is expandable thanks to a micro SD card slot onboard (up to 32GB or 64GB). The device also has a front facing camera with unspecified resolution but has doesn’t seem to have a rear camera. Connectivity options onboard includes – Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth.
The Toshiba Encore 7 is backed by a removable battery (capacity unknown) and has been slapped with an affordable price tag of $150 (approx. N25,000 in Naira) and is expected to be available in several markets (starting from the US market and followed by the Global launch) in coming months.
