TP-LINK announce Entry-level Neffos Y5L with Android Marshmallow

Chinese company, TP-LINK has announced a new ‎smartphone to join its recently launched Neffos sub-brand. Dubbed the TP-LINK Neffos Y5L, the entry-level device joins the first three devices launched in the Neffos C5 Series devices – the Neffos C5L, Neffos C5 and Neffos C5 Max.

Available in three colour options – Dark Grey, Pearl White and Sunshine Yellow; the TP-LINK Neffos Y5L (TP801A) sports a 4.5-inch ‎(854 x 480 pixels) FWVGA IPS LCD display resulting in a pixel density of 220 ppi and is backed by a 2020mAh battery.

On the inside, it is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 (MSM8209) processor clocked at 1.1GHz with 1GB of RAM and 8GB built-in expandable storage space. The device has Dual Micro SIM slots and boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and a front facing 2-megapixel camera for selfies and video chats. Disappointedly, the Neffos Y5L supports only 2G and 3G networks despite the fact that the chipset supports LTE connectivity. Other options includes – Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS. ‎
