Following the footstep of Facebook (Facebook Lite and Messenger Lite), Twitter has launched a Lite model of its micro blogging social network. Twitter Lite (about 1MB in size) will be accessible on mobile devices via the web in emerging markets across Asia Pacific, Latin America and Africa.
According to official blog release, Twitter Lite (https://lite.twitter.com/) is not only data-friendly, it loads quickly on slower connections; navigation is quicker than native Twitter and better optimised for speed (up to 30% faster launch time). As expected, it comes with key features such as – Timeline (TL), Tweets, Direct Messages, trends, profiles, media uploads, notifications, and more.
Twitter Lite is a faster, data friendly way for people to use Twitter to see what’s happening in the world.

It also comes with a data saver mode, which further reduces the amount of mobile data usage. In this mode, the Lite gives user the option to preview images or videos before loading them. Twitter Lite also offers offline support and there are additional features in Google Chrome and other modern browsers on Android such as Push Notifications.
To globally access the Twitter Lite, it is available by visiting mobile.twitter.com on a smartphone or tablet. In India, Twitter has collaborated with Vodafone to promote Lite to customers as a way to get live Indian Premier League (IPL) news and updates.
