Ubik Uno is another flagship killer from a startup company

Miami based startup, Ubik Mobile has announced its first smartphone and it is a flagship device called the Ubi Uno. The device is already designed but the company is looking to raise funds for the first mass production units from Kickstarter.

Early backers would get the Uno for $280 while the final retail price stands at $345 unlocked. If the company accomplish it’s set goals on the funding platform, shipping is expected to commence by September.

Moving to the spec features, the Ubik Uno features a 5.5-inch IPS display  with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, a pixel density of 400ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device has a metal body build, bezel-less display around the screen, measures 153 x 73.6 x 8.7mm in dimensions and weighs around 170 grams.

Under the hood, it is powered by a True Octa-core MediaTek MT6795 chipset that uses a 64-bit 2.2GHz quad-core CPU paired with 3GB of RAM, 16GB space of internal storage (13GB user available) and runs stock Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with promise of no bloatware. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 64GB.

The Ubik Uno impresses in the camera department, it uses a 20MP AutoFocus Sony Exmor RS IMX230 camera with f/2.2 aperture and CMOS sensor which is capable of shooting 4K videos at 30 fps. The front camera is a 5MP fixed focus snapper.

Connectivity options on the device includes – 4G LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS and USB 2.0. It comes with FM Radio and has a single SIM slot. It is backed by a 3100mAh battery which takes 3hrs to charge, provides around 8 hrs of talk time and a standby time of 200 hrs.

The story of Ubik Mobile could be comparable to that of the Chinese company, OnePlus which has so far show that features and specs, not big names sell phones.
