Chinese company, Ulefone has announced its first ever rugged smartphone – the Ulefone Armor. It features a rubberised cover on the rear and frame allowing it withstand falls and ensure it survives temperature range from -20℃ to 80℃. It is IP68 certified, meaning it is dustproof and can withstand being immersed in water of up to 1.25m in 30 minutes.
Also the device is shockproof, uses physical keys for navigation and has a special SOS key for emergencies (pressing this for 5 seconds makes a call as well as sends a message with location information to a preset contact). A special Control IC for the touch panel allows the display respond even with wet fingers.
The Ulefone Armor has a 4.7-inch 720p HD LTPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is powered by an octa-core Mediatek MT6753 64-bit processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage space. It boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and is backed by a 3500mAh battery.
For photography, there is a rear facing 13MP camera with 5-element lens and a front facing 5MP camera with 5-element lens. It supports 4G LTE networks (FDD/TDD-LTE) as well Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC options.
Pricing for the Ulefone Armor starts at $159.99 during the pre-sale period but the original MSRP is slated for $199.99. Black and Orange are the available choice of colours.
