Ultra-thin HP Spectre 13 Gives the MacBook A Run For Its Money

‎How thinner does it get? HP recently announced a new laptop -the HP Spectre 13 (or just HP Spectre) which claims the title of the ‘world’s thinnest laptop’. The lightweight laptop measures 10.4 mm thin, weighs approximately 1.1kg (2.45 pounds) and is packed in a mix of aluminium and carbon fiber body.

The focus on the laptop is the slim body which is as thin as an AAA battery. This shadows the solid performance the Laptop is capable of but numbers don’t lie. It is thinner than the iconic Macbook Air (17 mm), Lenovo Lavie Z, 12-inch Macbook (13.2 mm), Razer Blade Stealth (13 mm) and Dell XPS 13 (15.2 mm).

“The MacBook Air might be cheaper, but design-wise, the HP Spectre 13 will give it a run for its money”.

Asides the ultra slim and premium looking body build, the HP Spectre 13 is equipped with choice of either Intel’s sixth-generation Core i5 or i7 processors with up to 512GB PCIe SSD and up to 8GB of RAM. It sports a 13.3-inch Full HD non-touch display and a piston hinge design which draws inspiration from high-end furniture and hides well into the device.

Instead of going with Core M processor which laptops of this size go for, to avoid heat and battery issues associated with Core i processor. HP has included a hyperbaric cooling system which distributes heat away from the processor and two fans that pushes the air out‎ through the vents located on the back.

With super thin 4-cell battery, the HP Spectre 13 lasts up to ‎9.5 hours of battery life and the body still manages to pack three USB-C ports (two of which supports thunderbolt for fast charging) and a headphone jack. While the Macbook Air promises up to 12 hours, the body makes do with less ports.
