UMI has announced the launch date for the ‘world most affordable Fingerprint ID smartphone’ – the UMI Fair. Priced at $99, the 4G-LTE enabled and Android Lollipop OS running device will officially launch on September 25th.
Looking at the design, the UMI Fair has a fingerprint scanner on the back just below the main camera, the display has thin bezels, a metal body build and the volume rockers & Power/Lock button is located on the right. Asides a couple of press renders, there is no real life image of the device yet.
The device sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display, powered by a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor with Mali-T720 GPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB native storage.
Talking about the camera, the has a Sony Made 8MP camera with Dual LED flash, a front facing 2MP camera for selfies and there is a microSD card slot for adding more storage.
Connectivity options on the device includes – Wi-Fi 802.14 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth and 4G LTE/HSPA+. Running Android 5.x.x Lollipop OS, the UMI Fair has Dual SIM slots and draws power from a 2250mAh battery. More on this by next week Friday (September 25th).
