Chinese company, UMi has announced plans to release an ‘Extreme’ version of the UMi Plus, less than three weeks after the launch. The UMi Plus Extreme will be powered by the octa-core Mediatek Helio P20 processor – same on the Vernee Mars and arrive with a price tag of $299.99 around November.
Expected to take the crown of the first UMi smartphone to run Android 7.0 Nougat OS, the UMi Plus Extreme adds top-level specs to the one inherited on the UMi Plus and sports an all metal body (8 mm thin) in Blue or Black colour. It pack up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB built-in storage space.
The Mediatek Helio P20 (8 x Cortex A53 @2.3GHz) processor with Mali-T880 MP2 GPU on-board succeeds the Helio P10 and brings 20% increase in performance. It is manufactured using the 16nm FinFET mode and has enough power to support up to 24MP single cameras or 13MP + 13MP dual cameras.
The rest of the UMi Plus Extreme specs should tally with the original plus. So we could be looking at a 5.5-inch display with more likely a FHD screen res rather than Quad one, a fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, 4000mAh+ battery and Mediatek’s Pump Express Plus (PE+) fast charging technology.
