Building on the success of the $89.99-priced UMi Rome, UMi has taken the price war further by announcing a cheaper version called UMi Rome X. It is being acclaimed as the cheapest full metal 3G smartphone on today’s market; pre-sales start on January 11th and sales starts two weeks later on January 25th.
The UMi Rome X has the same design with a premium looking all metal body build with laser-cut frame and measures 7.9 mm thick just as the original ROME. It sports a 5.5-inch LTPS display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) and a pixel density of 267ppi. It is powered by a quad-core Mediatek MT6580 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with 1GB of RAM.
There is 8GB built-in storage space which is expandable via a microSD card slot. For photography, there is a 8-megapixels camera on the back with Sony IMX179 sensor and Dual LED flash which can be interpolated to take up to 13-megapixels resolution pictures.
The front facing camera is a 2-megapixels snapper which can be interpolated to take up to 5-megapixels resolution pictures. The UMi Rome X is stuck on 3G only with no support for 4G LTE networks, has Dual SIM slots, runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and is backed by the same 2500mAh battery.
