Unlocked Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 4.7 launched in the US and Canada

Alcatel has launched the 4.7-inch display version of the OneTouch Idol 3 – the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 4.7 in Canada and the US for $180 from the company’s website for both countries or on Amazon. The device is available unlocked starting August 14th.

The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 4.7 features a 4.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 306 GPU, 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage.

For additional storage, there is a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 32GB. On the rear, there is 13MP Autofocus camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP camera for selfies. Connectivity options on the OneTouch – 4G LTE, Bluetooth, NFC, WI-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and GPS/A-GPS.

Alcatel is promising users an instant fix to the stagefright flaw as soon as the smartphone is on. One of the touted features both Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 (4.7 and 5.5-inch) is the ability to be used upside down and the interface also turns along (fully reversible).

The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 4.7 is compatible with GSM carriers in North America, boots Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS, has two front facing stereo speakers with JBL Audio and is backed by a 2000mAh battery.

The device is expected to compete with the recently announced Motorola Moto G 2015; both device priced at the same amount and have very similar spec features, however, the latter has a water resistant body and can be customised using Moto Maker.
