SMA Solution Holdings is the new umbrella company which the Pantech brand is associated with, the South Korean based company was recently saved from bankruptcy by investments from Optics and SOLiD. All things going according to plan, the Pantech V950 will be the first smartphone from the new era.
According to sources, the Pantech V950 is a rebranded version of the Hisense Jingang II C20 which is already selling in China. Hisense makes its own products which are sold in various markets around the world and also serves as an ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) to a number of other firms.
Moving to the specs, the Pantech V950 / Hisense Jingang II C20 sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD LCD display and is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 MSM8929 processor clocked at 1.4GHz with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in expandable storage space.
In the camera segment, there is a front facing 5MP camera for selfies and video chats; and a rear facing 13MP camera with LED flash. Despite lacking a Fingerprint Scanner, it supports 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac connectivity options.
The device has Dual Micro SIM slots, IP67 Certification for being waterproof and dustproof, runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and backed by a 3200mAh battery. The Pantech V950 is expected to go on sale for a price tag lesser than CNY 1599 (USD) in Vietnam and Indonesia. Black and White colours are the available options.
