Vector has announced two new smartwatches – the Vector Meridian and Vector Luna smartwatches which looks more or less like a fashion watch and would not sacrifice so many features for the battery life of the device.
Both smartwatches sports a monochrome display with improved contrast for readability under strong light like the midday Sun. Both have metal bodies with stiched leather, rubber straps or metal link bands. They both can withstand up to 50 meters of water (waterproof) and one of the key selling point is its super long battery life – 30 days of usage on a single charge.
The Luna and Meridian are compatible with Android, iOS and Windows Phone OS devices and shows notifications from them. It shows incoming notifications, calender access, pull news headlines from RSS News Feeds and perform most functions other smartwatch do like sleep, step, activity and calories tracking.
The watch itself is operated using the three buttons on the side as it is not touch-enabled and it can also be be customised on the app in the smartphone. The company is also making the watch available to third-party app developers which enables then put their software on the watch and Google owned Nest Labs is already a partner.
The Vector Meridian is the cheaper of the two; it costs $199 and has a rectangular watch face. The Vector Luna on the other hand is more pricy at $349 and has a round watch face. It would be available globally from Vector’s own online store and select local retailers.
