British luxury brand, Vertu has announced the launch of a new luxury, high performance smartphone. Dubbed the Vertu Constellation, this device is the first from Vertu with Dual SIM support and also the first to be released by the Hong Kong based new owners – Godin Holdings.
The Vertu Constellation features Vertu’s iconic design and also supports 34 international bands, complemented by global Wi-Fi access from iPass. The device is handcrafted in England from anodized aluminium and soft Italian leather finish. It also comes with luxury materials such a scratchproof 140 carat 6th-gen Sapphire Crystal screen and Vertu’s full service offering – Vertu CONCEIERGE and Vertu LIFE.
Moving to the specs, the device has a 5.5-inch WQHD AMOLED display and 6th-gen Sapphire crystal screen. It is powered by the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.15GHz paired with 4GB of RAM, 128GB built-in expandable storage and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS.
The rest includes front facing stereo speakers (top and bottom, 12MP camera with large 1.55µm pixels (similar to the Google Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Google Pixel), USB Type-C port, NFC, 3220mAh battery with wireless charging (Qi/PMA compatible) and Dolby Digital Plus virtual surround sound processing. Outgoing calls are protected by built-in tech from Silent Circle.
There is no word on pricing yet, however, the Vertu Constellation (2017) is expected to sell for several thousands of dollars.
