Via Technologies has announced a new 10.1-inch Ruggedized Android tablet which has a durable design and can withstand harsh conditions. The Via Viega is IP65 certified which means it is water resistant and dust proof as such can withstand spills, dusts and rain. The device can also withstand vibration and survive a drop of around 6feet.
The 10″ Via Viega tablet features a 10.1-Inch (1280 x 800 pixels) LED screen that is protected by a tempered glass panel which prevebts the diplay from damage. Under the hood is a 1.2GHz Dual Core ARM Cortex-A9 SoC with NEON technology with Mali-400 DP GPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (expandable via microSD). There is a 5MP rear camera with auto-focus and an optional 2MP front facing camera. Connectivity options include – Wifi, 3G, NFC, GPS, micro HDMI port, MicroSD card slot, micro-SIM slot, stereo speakers, audio jack, micro USB.
The Via Viega measures 265.4mm x 171.5mm x 12.3mm, weighs 690g, runs on Android 4.2 OS, offers about 9 hours of battery life. Via also offers 3-Years of ‘longevity support’ i.e the company doesn’t expect any damage to the product.
With all the specs, its evident the tablet is targeted towards Industrial and enterprise customers; as these tablets would fit in showrooms, warehouse, construction sites and other harsh working environments.
