Apple announced the largest display iPad yet – the Apple iPad Pro with 12.9-inch display and along came a stylus pen called Apple Pencil. The latter is also a first for Apple as the company has yet to announce any stylus based device until now.
The Apple Pencil has responsive sensors built into the tip that helps it detects force, position and tilt, it would be able to create thinner and thicker strokes. It is so precise it can touch a single pixel and it doesn’t lose its cool, it feels like using a pencil on a paper.
Asides working as a stylus it also doubles as a Pencil for writing, drawing, and others, as a Charcoal or Brush for painting, shading, and others. Artists, designers and other professionals can decide whatever manner of usage to use for.
To charge the Pencil, once the magnetic cap is slid off to reveal the lightning connector, it is then plugged into the iPad Pro. About 15 seconds of charging delivers 30 minutes of usage and with a full charge, it delivers 12 hours of usage.
The Pencil was demoed with the Microsoft Office apps and the Adobe Photoshop FX app. It can annonate documents, highlight, make drawings, draw sketches and several other functions. It would be able to be used in notes app, email and some other third-party apps.
The Apple Pencil is priced at $99, works exclusively with the Apple iPad Pro and would be available by November.
