Vivo has followed its sister BBK Electronics companies – OPPO and OnePlus, into the European market with the launch of the Vivo X51 5G in the UK. It is basically the Vivo X50 Pro with some slight changes to fit the European market. The company also launched three other devices in the Vivo Y Series – the Y11s, Y20s and Y70, and two wireless earbuds – the Vivo Wireless Sport and True Wireless Earphones.
Priced starting at GBP 749 and EUR 799, the Vivo X51 5G has the same 6.56-inch OLED Ultra-O display with 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz fast touch response. The refresh rate is not as sleek as the 120Hz on the Galaxy S20, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8T but can be likened to devices such as the OnePlus Nord and Motorola One 5G. It is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G mobile platform and comes pre-loaded with Funtouch OS 10 (based on Android 10) soon to upgraded to Android 11.
One of the main highlights of the device is its quad-rear camera setup with built-in gimbal OIS for 3x the stability offered by regular OIS. The setup is made up of a primary 48MP (f/1.6) main lens paired with a 13MP (f/2.46) portrait lens, an 8MP (f/2.2, 120O FOV) super-wide-angle lens and a final 8MP (f/3.4, 5x optical zoom) periscope lens. The front camera is a 32MP AI snapper in the punch-hole notch.
The rest of the specs include Bluetooth 5.1, IP53 rating, 8GB of RAM, 256GB storage space, HiRes Audio (AK4377A) and 4,315mAh battery with 33W Vivo Flash Charge 2.0. There is also a ‘Smart Switch’ feature to switch seamless between 5G, 4G and Wi-Fi. It is available in Alpha Grey colour only.
