Vivo has announced its new NEX branded dual display smartphone with Full HD resolution on the front and rear, called the Vivo NEX Dual Display. It follows the earlier launch of this year’s Vivo NEX smartphones with in-display fingerprint scanner and pop-up selfie camera.
The Vivo NEX Dual Display sports a primary 6.39-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED 19.5:9 screen on the front and a secondary 5.49-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen on the back. The main screen is embedded with 5th gen in-display fingerprint scanner (0.29s unlock time) and the second screen can also be used as controls during gaming and has both Mirror Mode and Pose Director mode.
Just like the Nubia X with the same screen setup, there is no front facing camera. It is equipped with only three rear cameras – a primary 12MP (f/1.79) camera with Sony IMX363 sensor and 4-axis OIS, paired with a secondary 2MP (f/1.9) Night Vision camera with 2.9μm pixel size for low light shots and additional TOF 3D Sensing (f/1.3) camera for high-precision 3D depth information.
The TOF camera can also be used for secure facial recognitions and online payments. There are various camera features such as AI scene recognition and Body and Face shaping as well as a decorative Lunar Ring cover over the cameras that works as a notification light and LED module.
On the inside, the new NEX is powered by the Snapdragon 845 mobile platform paired with 10GB of RAM, 128GB built-in storage, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C and 3,500mAh battery with (10V/2.25A) 22.5W fast charging. It boots FunTouch OS 4.5 based on Android 9.0 Pie.
The Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition will go on sale starting December 29 in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan for a price tag equivalent to CNY 4,998 (~USD 725). It comes in Ice Blue and Star Purple colors with gradient finish.
