During its 2020 Developer Conference, Vivo announced OriginOS, its official replacement for FunTouch OS. The company’s new Android skin has a new desktop system with Huarong Road-inspired widgets (rectangular and squares), called the Klotski Grid system, in the home screen. These widgets can not only be moved around; they can also be interacted (Nano Alerts) with to show weather, message notifications and more.
Vivo has included support for real-life inspired backgrounds and wallpapers (Behaviour Wallpapers), seamless access to a mobile payment tool (SuperCard), and up to 26 gesture navigation combinations. The Multi-Turbo 5.0 feature offers three cores functions – Application Pre-loading, Memory Fusion, and Process Optimization. With Memory Fusion, the device uses AI optimization to combine idle parts of the internal storage (up to 3GB) with the phone’s RAM to ensure smoother and faster operation.
Process Optimisation removes unwanted memory usage during operation while Application Pre-loading using AI to make apps readily, thereby significantly reducing start up times. With Parallel World, Vivo smartphone users can switch between FunTouchOS and OriginOS. The company also released a long list of Vivo and iQOO smartphones that will receive the update in three phases.
