Vivo has unveiled a slightly better variant of the Vivo Y95 / Y91, which went on sale in countries like India and Philippines late in 2018, as the Vivo U1 in China. The budget phone has a U-shaped or Waterdrop notch and arrives in Aurora Blue, Aurora Red and Starry Black colours with shades of blue or purple at the base.
The Vivo U1 sports a 6.2-inch (1520 x 720 pixels) HD+ FullView display with 2.5D Curved glass and 19:9 aspect ratio. It measures 155.1 x 75.1 x 8.28 mm in dimensions, weighs in at 163.5 grams and is backed by a lasting 4,030mAh built-in battery which charges via microUSB 2.0 port.
Internally, the phone packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 octa-core 12nm chipset paired with 3/4 GB of RAM and 32/64 GB built-in expandable storage. It comes pre-loaded with FunTouchOS 4.5 which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo OS.
Photography is handled by 13MP (f/2.2) + 2MP (f/2.4) dual rear cameras with LED flash and a 8MP (f/2.0) selfie camera with support for Face Unlock (Face Wake). The base variant (3/32 GB) is priced at CNY 799; the middle variant (3/64 GB) costs CNY 999 and the top variant (4/64 GB) is priced at CNY 1,199.
