Vivo, one of the popular Chinese device makers, has announced the Plus version of the Vivo V5. Similar to the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus, the Vivo V5 Plus has a Dual Front camera setup – a 20MP primary camera, co-engineered with Sony + a secondary 8MP front camera that captures depth-of-field information.
Both cameras use a unique Selfie softlight flash and combine to create bokeh effects comparable to that of large aperture DSLR cameras. On the rear sits the main camera, a 16MP snapper with PDAF, Single LED flash and updated software optimization algorithm.
Sporting a metal unibody design, the Vivo V5 Plus features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS LCD In-Cell display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and reading mode for eye protection. It has a Hybrid Dual SIM slot (nano + nano/microSD), measures 152.58 x 74 x 7.26 mm, weighs 158.6 grams and backed by a 3160mAh battery with fast charging.
The V5 Plus boots Funtouch OS 3.0 (based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow) and relies on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0GHz paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB built-in storage space. It supports 4G LTE, Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB 2.0 and GPS.
The device comes equipped with a front fingerprint sensor (0.2 unlock time) and custom-made AK4376 audio chip for Hi-Fi quality audio output and signal-to-noise ratio of up to 115dB. In terms of pricing, the Vivo V5 Plus is currently listed for 1799 RM (US$ 402) in Malaysia. It is expected to be available in India next week Monday (23rd January).
