At one point in 2014, the Vivo X5 Max was the slimmest smartphone in the world at 4.75mm but it is no longer as at present. Due to its super slim body, the company had to make so many sacrifices with some component and complains of low performance as well as bad battery life with its 2000mAh battery.

The Vivo X5 Max Platinum Edition is here to to correct that surfaced on TENAA last month with the Vivo X5 Max S moniker. It now measures 7.2mm thin and is backed by a bigger 4150mAh battery. And also, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC has been replaced with the MediaTek MT6752 (64-bit) octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz with Mali-T760 GPU.

Asides these changes, the rest are pretty much the same; we have a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB Space of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 128GB). The main camera is a 13MP AutoFocus f/2.0 snapper with LED flash and a front facing 5MP f/2.4 camera for selfies.

The Vivo X5 Max Platinum Edition runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with FunTouch UI ontop, Dual SIM with Dual Standby and support for 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth, micro USB and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. There is no word on pricing yet but it would be available in Gold and White colour options.
