Following the launch of the Vivo Y53 with Snapdragon 425 SoC in Malaysia, the company has launched a new ‘Y Series’ device in the market. Dubbed Vivo Y25, the entry-level smartphone comes pre-installed with FunTouch OS 2.1 (based on the dated Android 5.1 Lollipop OS) and arrives in either Grey (rear) plus White (front) colours.
Priced at MYR 499 (USD 112), the Vivo Y25 features a compact 4.5-inch IPS display with 854 x 480 pixels (FWVGA) screen resolution, pixel density of 210ppi and draws energy from a 1900mAh battery. It measures 130.7 x 66.4 x 9.2 mm in dimensions, has Dual SIM slots and supports 4G LTE networks.
On the inside, the device packs a quad-core Mediatek MT6580 processor clocked at 1.3GHz along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space (expandable up to 128GB). Photography is handled by a rear facing 5MP camera with LED flash working alongside a front 2MP camera for selfies and videochats.
The Vivo Y25 arrives various other features such as Smart Click – to bring up customised features or apps from a locked screen by holding down the volume control and Smart Wave – to easily control the device from a locked screen by swipping patterns call up functions.
