China-based device maker – Vivo has officially announced the Vivo Y66, a new mid-range smartphone in the Y series. The smartphone, which surfaced on the website of Chinese certification agency (TENAA) last month, is available in the home country for a price tag of CNY 1499 (US$ 217).
Pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with Funtouch OS 3.0, the Vivo Y66 sports a 5.5-inch screen with 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) screen resolution and 2.5D glass display. The device has a metal body build, Dual SIM slots, and backed by a 2930mAh battery (non-removable) with quick charge.
On the inside, the Y66 relies on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (MSM8937) octa-core 64-bit processor clocked at 1.4GHz with Adreno 505 GPU and 3GB of RAM. While internal storage stands at 32GB, there is a microSD card slot onboard that accepts cards up to 128GB.
In the camera segment, the main camera is a 13MP snapper with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash while the front camera is a 5MP snapper with f/2.2 aperture.
The Vivo Y66 supports 4G LTE (most of China’s network bands) as well as VoLTE, measures 153.56 x 75.79 x 7.49 mm in dimensions and weighs in at 157 grams. Rose Gold and Silver are the available colour options.
