Chinese smartphone maker, Vivo has released a new variant of last year’s Vivo Y66. The new mid-ranger, called the Vivo Y66i, has the same design and build (aluminium metal material + 2.5D curved glass) but now has a slightly bigger 3,000 mAh battery – compared to the 2,930 mAh on the Y66.
The Vivo Y66i has also ditched the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC and now boots Funtouch OS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat OS. It packs 3GB of RAM, 32GB built-in storage space, dual SIM slots and microSD card slot (up to 256GB cards).
The rest of the specs remains basically the same as the Y66. It sports a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display with 2.5D curved glass, measures 153.56 x 75.79 x 7.49 mm and arrives in Champagne Gold and Rose Gold colour options.
Photography on the Y66i is handled by the same rear facing 13MP AF camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash, along with a front facing 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video chats. It also has a Face Wake (facial recognition) feature and is on sale in China for CNY 1,298 (US$ 196).
