Vodacom Smart Tab 3G: A low cost tablet for South Africans

Vodacom has announced a low-cost sub-R1000 Android tablet for the South African market. Dubbed the Vodacom Smart Tab 3G, the device comes with Android Kitkat OS pre-loaded, free data bundles to complement along and Zulu language support.

The tablet is constructed of all plastic body; the power & volume buttons are on the right hand side; the micro-USB & audio Jack sit ontop the device; the microSD card & SIM card slot are on the left hand side.

Moving to the specs, the Vodacom Smart Tab 3G is a 7-inch Android tablet with 540 x 960 pixels resolution display, 16:10 widescreen resolution and a pixel density of 160ppi. Under the hood is a Mediatek MT8312 processor with a 1.3GHz clock speed with Mali-400MP GPU with 512MB of RAM. The device has meagre 4GB of internal storage; 2GB of that is usable but has a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB.

On the rear is a 2.0MP camera and a front VGA camera; believe me the camera is unimpressive considering the pixels. Other features includes 3G/HSDPA+, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11n WiFI, Micro USB and a 4080mAh battery.
