In celebration of the tenth year anniversary of making own branded mobile devices, Vodafone has announced a new flagship level smartphone – the Vodafone Smart Platinum 7. It will be available in the market on June 20 and will be selling along with the Vodafone Smart VR headset.
Hailed as the ‘first premium 4G+ smartphone’, the Vodafone Smart Platinum 7 sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 pixels (2K/ WQHD) screen res and corning Gorilla Glass protection. It measures 154.0 x 75.65 x 6.99mm, weighs 155g and is backed by a 3000mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 support (charges from zero to 50% in 30 minutes).
On the inside, it relies on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 (MSM8976) processor clocked at 1.8GHz with Adreno 510 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 32GB built-in storage and boots Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. For additional storage space, there is a microSD card slot for expansion up to 128GB.
In the imaging section, there is a rear facing 16MP AutoFocus camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED; and a front facing 8MP camera with flash. Connectivity options onboard includes – 4G+ (LTE Cat.6), Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth, GPS/AGPS and NFC.
The Vodafone Smart Platinum 7 sports a fingerprint sensor and needs the Vodafone Smart VR (sold separately) to deliver a fully immersive VR experience. It is available a £300 on pay as you go and for free on contracts starting from £28 monthly.
