At the CES 2016, Wacom showed off the Bamboo Smart Stylus which offers a surface-like input for Windows 2-in-1 Devices. It is compatible with select devices using enabled with Active Electro-Static (AES) technology.
Looking at the design, the Bamboo Smart for select Windows 2-in-1 devices looks like the surface pen for the Surface Pro 3. It offer ‘pressure-sensitive precision and sublime comfort, producing handwritten notes and rough ink concepts that feel and look like they were produced by traditional media’.
The stylus works like the traditional pen, users will be able to take notes and sketch out concepts/rough ideas on their laptops and mobile device. There are two programmable buttons on the side for quick access to regularly used commands. It also requires an AAAA battery which can last up to a year if only used three hours daily.
Current devices compatible with the Bamboo Smart with no need for pairing includes – Dell Venue 10, Dell Venue Pro 10, HP Elite x2 1021, Lenovo ThinkPad P40 Yoga and Toshiba dynaPad N72 (New). Bamboo Smart for Windows will arrive by February for $39.95.
Although released last year, the company also showed off the Bamboo Smart Stylus for Samsung devices using Wacom’s Electro-Magnetic Resonance (EMR) technology. It requires no batteries or any form of charging for that matter, has one side switch and is cordless.
Currently compatible Samsung devices are – Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Tab 8.0“ with S-Pen and Galaxy Tab 9.7“ with S-Pen. The Bamboo Smart for Samsung is available for $39.95 from Wacom eStore and online retailers such as Amazon.
