At the WWDC 2015, Apple announced the WatchOS 2.0 – the latest OS for the Apple Watch. The update brings several updates including third-party app support and also developers would be able to build native apps for the smartwatch.
The WatchOS 2.0 is already available to developers however the native Apple Watch would start appearing in the Apple Store later this year. The new update would be available in the falls as a free update to the Apple Watch.
Running some third-party apps on the Apple Watch relies heavily on the iPhone but this would be corrected by the new update. The Apple Watch would now be able to connect to Wi-Fi with or without the presence of an iPhone. Asides native app support, the Apple Watch also gets new features such as – Siri integration with HomeKit, nightstand mode, support for public transit in maps, Apple Pay store card support, support for short video playback and new timefaces.
