WatchOS 2.0 update rollout live for Apple Watch

Apple has finally released the WatchOS 2.0 update to Apple Watch owners. The software upgrade was initially billed to go official along with the iOS 9 update but delayed due to issues with bugs. The update is instantly available for download via the Watch app for iPhones.

The WatchOS 2.0 update brings a wide range of improvements to the Apple Watch. One of the major improvement is support for native third-party apps – this means apps would be able to run independently and tap into features of the watch such as the Taptic Engine, Accelerometer, microphone, Heart Rate Sensor and Digital Crown without being paired with an iPhone.

Another important update is the issue of security. With the Activation Lock feature, intruders and hackers will find it hard to factory reset a lost, stolen or misplaced Apple Watch without inputing the User’s Apple ID and password. The Anti-theft feature still doesn’t have the device location tracking of the same similar feature on iPhones, iPad and iPod Touch.

Other notable features the software update brings includes the nightstand mode, Siri integration, new custom watch faces, making mobile payments on Apple Watch using Apple pay, Time-Lapse, Photo and Photo Album.
