Nokia surprisingly announced the Nokia N1 tablet in November which would run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.
What I mean by using the term ‘Suprisingly’ is the fact that Nokia still has an agreement with Microsoft which is said to end by 2016. Microsoft purchased Nokia’s mobile Arm; which means the company cannot make smartphones until at least 2017 or thereabout.
Nokia seems to have found a way around the agreement which gave birth to the Nokia N1 tablet; Foxconn is said to be main manufacturer of the tablet while Nokia only developed the idea. This way there will be no legal tussle involving infringement on the acquisition deal.
With their recently launched tablet, it is sure the Finland company is working its way back into the mainstream smartphone market. We have caught a glimpse of what is expected to be an upcoming Nokia Android smartphone.
A couple of image surfaced online revealing what is expected to be the next Android smartphone coming from the Finnish company. Dubbed the Nokia C1, the device first of all looks a loot like just a concept phone and bear some semblance with the N1 tablet.
The Nokia C1 is expected to run on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Nokia Z launcher UI ontop. The device could pack a 5-inch display, Intel made chipset, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 8MP rear camera and a front facing 5MP camera.
There is no official confirmation of the existence of the Nokia C1 smartphone but I know people will agree with me that the company will do a good job with its android smartphone offering. Nokia could use the same method which it used with the N1 tablet by collaborating with a 3rd part manufacturer like Foxconn and other. But till we get an official confirmation, we would take this with a pinch of salt.
