French device manufacturer, Wiko expanded its portfolio with the announcement of two new smartphones – Wiko WIM and Wiko WIM Lite alongside two new waterproof fitness bands – the WiMate Lite and WiMate Prime, less than a month ago at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona.
The Wiko WIM is the cream of the crop with a Dual rear camera setup with inputs from Qualcomm, DxO and Vidhance, large front facing camera sensor for quality selfies and Android Nougat OS. The WIM Lite also takes the selfie approach but with a single rear camera setup and a sizeable battery capacity for continous usage.
Wiko WIM
Sporting a clean design with a mix of aluminium and glass, the Wiko WIM has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) screen resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdron 626 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and the choice of either a 32GB or 64GB built-in storage space, expandable up to 128GB or 256GB via microSD.
The main camera has two 13MP f/2.0 sensors, one in RGB and the other in Monochrome. The front camera is a 16MP snapper with front flash for selfies and the device has connectivity options such as 4G LTE (Cat. 6), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Power is supplied by a 3200mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.
It is expected to arrive in June for a price tag of EUR 399.99.
Wiko WIM Lite
The Wiko WIM Lite takes a modest approach with a smaller 5-inch IPS display with the same Full HD screen resolution and depends on a 3000mAh battery for power. It relies on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB expandable storage space.
While the front snapper remains a 16MP camera with front LED flash, the rear main camera is now a 13MP sensor with Dual LED flash. It is expected to arrive in June or July for around EUR 249.99.
Wiko WiMate Lite and WiMate Prime Fitness Trackers
The WiMate Lite is a connected bracelet with up to six month of battery life (replaceable battery). It only displays time or icons, notify the user via a series of LEDS and also waterproof (up to 30 metres). It has an accelerometer for monitoring activities and will go on sale sometimes this year for EUR 170.
On the other hand, the WiMate Prime has an AMOLED display, heart rate monitor alongside Compass and Accelerometer, 4GB built-in storage space, GPS and expected to last up to five day of usage on a single charge (rechargeable battery). The Companion app is available for Android and iOS.
