Despite the uncertain nature of future Cyanogen OS updates, UK based, Wileyfox has announced a new smartphone based on this. The Wileyfox Swift 2X supersedes last year’s Swift 2, boots Cyanogen OS v13.1 based on Android Marshmallow OS and currently on sale for a price tag of GBP 220.
On the inside, the Wileyfox Swift 2X is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor paired along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in expandable storage space. It sports an aluminium alloy metal unibody design, 5.2-inch FHD IPS display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 protection and a rear placed fingerprint sensor with NXP NQ220 technology.
In the imaging section, there is a rear facing 16MP camera with Dual LED Flash, Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF), Samsung 3L8 ISOCELL sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording capabilty alongside a front facing 8MP camera for selfies and video chats.
As mentioned earlier, the smartphone boots Cyanogen OS out-of-the-box, but will be replaced with the Stock Android OS, the company is working on. The Wileyfox Swift 2X also has Hybrid Dual SIM slot (micro + nano/microSD), 4G LTE network support and USB Type-C port. A 3010mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 keeps the lights on.
