Acer has announced a new Windows based smartphone – the Acer Jade Primo. The phablet sized smartphone, more like a ‘Pocket PC Phone’ is being marketed as the first to the Continuum feature on Windows 10 and would be one the high end Windows Based released in years now.
Commenting at the launch event, ASUS CEO, Jason Chen said,
“This is our first PC phone. You can do a PC job when you plug it into a docking station in the office alongside a keyboard and mouse, and at the same time it’s also a charger. This is our vision; putting the PC in your pocket.”
The ASUS Jade Primo runs Windows 10 Mobile OS but will support Continuum – the feature allows you use a mobile device running the OS in desktop mode. Once the dock is attached, you can run apps from the device on a bigger screen.
Moving to the specs, the Hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 powered Acer Jade Primo features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD AMOLED display, has a front facing 8MP camera for selfies and 21MP front facing camera with Dual LED flash. Other key spec details are not revealed.
The Acer Jade Primo will come equipped with different accessories including a Docking station, wireless mouse and keyboard which will aid the full Pc experience. There is no word on pricing, potential release date or availability but it looks like the device is still in prototype stage and could make its debut later in 2015 or early 2016.
