As part of the Universal Windows Platform scheme, the Redmond giant is now making it easier for developers to reuse codes used for developing reworked Android and iOS apps to make Windows applications. This move would see developers rework existing Android (Java/C++), iOS (Objective C), .Net and. Web32 to Windows Store ready apps.

Microsoft demoed Choice Hotel app for Android working seamless on Windows Phone and this was done with little tweaking. Candy Crush Developer, King used similar technology to bring the much loved game to Windows Phone.

Blackberry employed this same tactics by making Android apps run on BlackBerry 10 OS and even the latest BB 10 OS update brings an Amazon app store which brings first hand Android apps to the OS. Google also used this tactics when its open source Android OS wasn’t getting apps from iOS.

Microsoft would be hoping by introducing Android and iOS apps to Windows 10, it would be able to at least close the gap between the two top dominant duo in terms of available apps in its own store – the Windows Store.
