WP 8.1 running Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM with 5MP front camera goes official

While there is no word on a new flagship Lumia device, Microsoft has been churning out affordable Lumia devices in the midrange and lower range categories. The company has added the Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM with lower midrange specs to the list.

The Lumia 540 Dual SIM can be seen as the successor to the Microsoft Lumia 530; like its name suggest it supports Dual SIM functionality but there is no word on 4G LTE. It measures 9.35mm thick, weighs 152 grams and runs on Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia denim update but is upgradeable to Windows 10 once it becomes widely available.

Moving to the key specs, it sports a 5-inch (1280 X 720 pixels) HD display (249 ppi), powered by a quad-core Qualcomm snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot on-board for storage expansion (up to 128GB) and users can get up to 30GB space of Microsoft OneDrive storage for free – first 15GB cloud storage by default and the other 15GB when auto-upload is activated.

On the rear, the device uses a 8MP AutoFocus camera with LED flash and front facing 5MP camera with wide angle for selfies. The device is backed by a removable 2200mAh battery.
