Xiaomi has showcased its next generation wireless charging technology for smartphones – the 80W Mi Wireless Charging technology. The charging solution, which takes over from the company’s 30W, 40W and 50W Mi Wireless charging, was used to power a 4,000mAh battery from 0 to 10-percent in 1 minute, 0 to 50-percent in 8 minutes and 0 to 100-percent in 19 minutes.
Last year, the 30W Mi wireless charging charged the same battery from 0 to 50-percent in 25 minutes and 0 to 100-percent in 69 minutes. To demonstrate the new 80W Mi Wireless charging solution, Xiaomi used a modified version of the Mi 10 Pro and of late, the company has been notoriously releasing smartphones with significant wired and wireless charging solution such as the Mi 10 Ultra (120W wired and 50W wireless charging).
Fellow competitor, OPPO recently showcased its 65W AirVOOC wireless charging technology which can charge a 4,000mAh battery from 0 to 100-percent in 30 minutes. This was after the company outdid itself with the 125W fast wired charging which charge a 4,000mAh battery from 0 to 41-percent in 5 minutes and 0 to 100-percent in 20 minutes. This technology is not available in a commercial device yet.
